Testing The Customer Advantage

At RIFT SUCCESS, we love to help others achieve their SUCCESS, for that very reason, we've decided to embark on a small quest with an up and rising star in the MLM circuit - The Customer Advantage.  The Customer Advantage's owner John Milanoski is a well-known internet marketer and entrepreneur whose claim to fame came from his Marketing Millionaire training system.  Through marketplace trends, he realized how much potential social media influence had and devised a way for it to benefit the local marketplace.  His strategy consisted of taking the socially driven consumer service offering local shopping discounts and added a network marketing structure.  This component differed his product from places like Groupon and Living Social.

The Way It Works

Here is where John's magic came into play, by adding network marketing as a component, the business is built around referrals of new members and thus increasing the chances of going viral.  When a member joins (all free), they are given a replicated website for the purpose of soliciting new member enrollments.   When the personal referral of the member makes a coupon purchase, the referring member receives 5% of that purchase.  The member will also receive a 5% override commission on all members in their downline through 5 generational levels.   When a member enrolls a local business, they will receive 2% commission on all sales made through the offers made by that local business.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the magnificent work you have done over the course of the past year. Since our official unveiling on May 18, 2011, we have taken not only the Human Resources world by storm, but the Internet realm as well. Our client base has grown tremendously, our fan base exponentially, and our ability to help more and more people is now unmatched. Just to review with all of you what we've accomplished. We have not only transformed the RIFT SUCCESS website into a masterpiece of True SUCCESS, but we have also opened and established as top sites, the RIFT SUCCESS - 2nd Chance Division, and the RIFT SUCCESS Job Board. Do you understand how truly a phenomenal feat that is for our business? We have carried our model to heights even I never expected it to be able to climb! It has almost been a year since the official grand opening of RIFT SUCCESS, LLC and we've undergone many major overhauls. Our systems have all been upgraded, our sites updated, more affiliates and partners have been acquired, and our staff has grown exponentially.  Our growth has given us the opportunity to expand our programs and our services to include outsourcing, consulting, advertising, job board posting, classified ads, logo creation, banner creation, website creation, SEO development tools, and B2B loans to our already existing recruiting and temporary staffing model.

The RIFT SUCCESS - Second Chance Division, our nonprofit organization, has experienced great SUCCESS in the fight against recidivism with their Second Chance Program which facilitates workforce reentry for the ex-incarcerated.  Not only has it been able to integrate with the NYS Prison System, it has also been able to begin implementing programs throughout the US and abroad.  The volunteer force behind the RIFT SUCCESS - 2nd Chance Division have provided the ability to enter the confines of the prison system and make changes for the outside from within.

RIFT SUCCESS, LLC is so proud of the hard work and progress our 2nd Chance Division has accomplished that we've decided to give them a gift a few days earlier than our 1 year anniversary.  RIFT SUCCESS, LLC officially passes the torch of the RIFT SUCCESS seal of approval to the RIFT SUCCESS - 2nd Chance Division!  What exactly does that mean?  Well, that means that the RIFT SUCCESS original website template now belongs to the 2nd Chance Division.  The very work that has amassed us a large following and massive traffic is now officially the face of the RIFT SUCCESS - 2nd Chance Division.  They deserve to know how much they mean to us and how honored we are to have them with this token of our gratitude.  Thank you to all who have made this possible!

RIFT SUCCESS 101 - The Cover Letter

In this chapter of RIFT SUCCESS 101 we discuss the coveted Cover Letter.  We get tons of requests for help with this particular area of the resume submission process.  It appears, that many fear the cover letter because they don't understand exactly what to include in its contents.  No it isn't a complete rewording of your resume, no it isn't a form letter or application, and no it isn't where you beg them for a job.  A cover letter is your prime opportunity to establish a relationship with a potential employer.  If written out with care and purpose, it can mean the difference between getting the job or not.  Remember, you haven't met this person yet, and your resume is an outline of what you have done in your career, so make sure that your cover letter has a personal aspect to it in order to build a rapport.  How do you do that?  Well, first and foremost; be sure to include the name of the company it is being addressed to, the title of the position you are applying for, and if possible the name of the addressee.

Another key point to remember when writing your cover letter is that it answers the following questions, "What makes you special and distinctive in your field of expertise?  Why should you be the one to hire?"  This is your prime sales pitch to the prospective employer so be sure to define yourself and your key areas of expertise.  Feel free to utilize wording from your resume, but not all, highlight only the important parts which pertain to the position you are applying for.  For instance, if the position you are applying for asks that you have a minimum of x amount of years experience in the field, then be sure that your bullet point states that you have led your team/have been a successful agent for x+ years etc., etc.,  Don't copy paste everything they've requested, outline how your career has gotten you the expertise to match what they've requested.

Okay, so we've covered the basic key points to include in your cover letter, but how do you write one?  No need to chew your nails, we are about to outline what to write and where to write it.  Our candidates have followed this to the letter (all puns intended) and have gotten phenomenal results.

Header
If you don't want your cover letter to be separated from your resume, be sure you include your header.  This makes it easier for the person reading to match it with your resume should it become separated.  For ease, use the header you used in your resume.

Company Information
On the left hand side of your letter be sure to include the information for the company you are applying to.  Name, address, job reference number, job title, etc.

Addressee
The "To Whom It May Concern" is very impersonal, be sure that if a contact person is given, you address them directly.  If no information is given about who to address it to (for instance an info@site.com) then take care to address it to the Hiring Manager or Human Resources Department.

The Body
  • Your First Paragraph - This should be short, sweet, and to the point.  Be sure to reference the position, that you are a perfect fit for the position, and that the highlights of your career are exactly what the position requires and more.
  • Your Second Paragraph - Here you can include 4 to 6 bullet points stating your experience, accomplishments, feats related to the position you are applying for.  Try to use some of their verbiage from their job description so that they can make a quick relation.  Your bullet points should be no longer than two lines, one line is best.

Conclusion
Now that you've gotten all of the body out of the way, you're ready for your final paragraph...the conclusion.  This paragraph is designed to tie it all together in a one sentence summary.  Be upbeat and energetic about looking forward to speaking/meeting with them to outline any further credentials in person.  Be sure to re-read and make any corrections as needed, and always use spell check.

And that's it!  The coveted Cover Letter is now complete and you're ready to send it out.  Wasn't so painful right?  The more you think about it, the more difficult it becomes to write.  Even if you aren't the best author, no one knows you better than yourself and the prospective employer has outlined what is needed to fill the position.  You have all the ammunition at your fingertips to get to the source and get yourself an appointment.

Because the RIFT SUCCESS recruiting team sees thousands of resumes daily, we have prepared some basics to ensure that YOUR resume is a True SUCCESS! Below you’ll find some suggestions that we’ve come up with that will help you create the resume no recruiter or employer will overlook. While you may not want to use them all, any combination will certainly help your chances of being noticed and single you out as the candidate that they have to meet!

Presentation

Candidates that are considered immediately have one thing in common - their resumes stand out from the rest in the first 5 seconds. How? One word…creativity! Gone are the days of drone and boring resumes, if you want to wow an employer or a recruiter so that your resume doesn’t end up in the forgotten pile, then call upon your creativity and do something different. The use of graphics, a picture, or even something as simple as a *portfolio style presented resume* will surely grab an employer or recruiter’s attention. Think of it this way, if you spent all day looking at text on a paper or an email, wouldn’t a graphic design or a picture catch your attention? Of course it would, and it would also catch the eye of any prospective employers and recruiters. It shows them that you are detail oriented, professional, and that the presentation of your resume is just as important to you as its contents. Be careful not to be too extravagant either, because this may have the opposite effect. Keep it simple, classy, and attractive.

Resume Body

Now that you’ve decided how you will present your resume to your prospective recruiter or employer, and you’ve captured their attention, it’s time to keep their attention. This is the meat and potatoes…your resume body. In order to make your resume body as enticing as your presentation, you must remember that the person reading your resume is short on time and must assess in the next 30 seconds, whether or not you are qualified for the position.


  • Verbiage - in a single sentence explain what your previous employers did and be sure to use key words describing the position. This bit of information can tell your prospective employer or recruiter, whether or not your knowledge and background are a fit for their position. It would be unwise of you to assume that just because you named the company, the person reading your resume knows who they are and what they do.

  • Job Description - when describing what duties you performed under whatever title you held, be careful not to sound too generic and drone. This is your resume, these are the things you did, and these are the key components of what made you the best fit for that position. Explain how that past employer benefited from your contributions to their organization. Avoid words like multi-task, team player, and goal oriented. They’re far too overused and give the recruiter or employer the feeling that you took no passion or care in writing your resume.

  • Languages - if you speak and write in different languages, be sure to list them and your proficiency with them. Multi-Lingual candidates are very enticing to recruiters and employers because they can communicate with clients and associates from diverse backgrounds and cultures. This can increase the organization’s marketability level and thus open the doors of expansion. If you are a candidate that has multi-lingual abilities, you are already an asset to the recruiter or employer.

  • Skills – if you possess any skills that will be helpful to the employer or recruiter, be sure to list them. Don’t create a list of programs that you are familiar with or write that you have the ability to follow directions. List real skills that help you get the job done, like typing 75 wpm (and no, texting 75 wpm is not the same), CSS or HTML coding, cold calling x amount of prospects in an 8 hour day while transforming x amount into sales, etc.

  • Hobbies – if your hobbies consist of anything relevant to the position you are applying for, then by all means include them, if not, don’t even bother. From experience, not a single one of our clients has ever asked us what a candidate’s hobbies are, however, this is a topic that is up for debate among many HR representatives. If you have decided to include hobbies in your resume, then just remember this if nothing more…never, under any circumstances use terms like “hanging out,” “chilling,” or “chillaxing.” You laugh, but trust us; we’ve seen them plenty of times.

  • Social Media – the MECCA of the new world - this is where you can either shine or fall from grace. If your social media profiles are professional, well-written, spell checked, and elaborate on your level of expertise, then list them….if they don’t…you know the rest. There is nothing that can diminish your chances at getting the position faster than profanity, misspellings, and explicit images on a personal profile. Yes it’s your profile and you can say and post what you want, but if you expect a recruiter or an employer to take you seriously, then be sure none of these things are a part of it. If your friends post things like this on your profile or on theirs, then don’t list them; if you aren’t sure, don’t list them. There is a great debate among HR representatives about whether or not recruiters and employers should read your personal profiles, no matter who’s wrong or who’s right, the point is…it’s being done so protect yourself against the chances of losing the job by what is displayed in your profiles.

  • Objectives – the first of the resume body and the last of this course. Be sure that you outline a true goal in this field, don’t just waste the space by writing “to be the best employee” or “to be a part of your team.” Be realistic and bold, use terminology like “to increase your revenue in New York by bringing x amount of leads,” or “to decrease customer turnover by reminding clients that x company offers x additional benefits in addition to x benefits they already receive.” This lets the recruiter or employer know that not only have you researched their organization well, but that you are planning on bringing something of value to it.

Ex-Cons Transform a Factory Into a Dazzling Recycled Office [Slideshow]

 

Holland-based Doepel Strijkers Architects has unveiled a striking new office building in Rotterdam. We're not sure what's more interesting about it: the fact that it was designed to astonishingly exacting environmental standards or that it was built by folks who've done time in the pokey.

The HAKA Building is a pre-war factory that Doepel Strijkers is converting into a "clean tech living lab" for eco-friendly water and energy organizations. The project is an experiment of sorts in how socially and environmentally minded architecture can benefit the region. The ultimate goal: A wasteless building.

So to cut back on energy and transportation costs, the architects sourced all their materials locally, either second-hand or from demolition sites. You've got seating made from the wood of abandoned post-war housing; a meeting room fashioned entirely out of recycled doors; and an acoustic wall created with a whopping 17,700-pound pile of old clothes. A team of (supervised) ex-cons threw it all together.

Developed in partnership with public and private groups, the HAKA building is based on a circular economic model -- the idea that everything, from labor to materials, is sourced locally, resulting in bigger payoffs for the city, both from an environmental and a financial standpoint. As a result, the whole process is being meticulously documented and measured right down to the man hours it takes to turn board doors into benches (32). The hope is that the data will inform a broader redevelopment scheme in the area, one that gives sustainability pride of place.

RIFT SUCCESS - 2nd Chance Division Finds New Home


RIFT SUCCESS proudly announces the new home of its 2nd Chance Division, whose main goal since inception has been to battle recidivism at its core.  To be able to do so means that ex-incarcerated individuals must have aid in acquiring employment in order not to resort to crime as a means of survival, and in turn not return to prison.  RIFT SUCCESS - 2nd Chance Division took the lead in this endeavor and initiated its 2nd Chance Program whose very design took it to a whole new level.   The 2nd Chance Division has amassed such a large support base that it needed its own website to further promote its efforts.

"It's wonderful to know that our 2nd Chance Division has gained so much support over the past year that it needs its own home separate from our RIFT SUCCESS website," says COO Jennifer Rasbach.  "The difference it's making in the lives of so many ex-incarcerated individuals is fantastic, and we are proud to see it blossom and stand alone in the land of non-profits."

While CEO Junior Sanchez {LION} has been extremely busy over the past two months, we were able to catch up with him to get his take on the move.  "I am extremely happy that our 2nd Chance Division has grown to the point that it needs to stand out on its own.  The hard work, perseverance, and dedication of everyone involved is unmatched from what I've seen and this is a testament to their accomplishments."  He continues, "To know that our non-profit entity has a following so strong that it needs its own website is a tremendous joy to me because it shows just how important this movement is.  I thank everyone for their support, it is because of everyone involved, fans, supporters, and staff that we can make this happen."

The fact remains that recently released, ex-incarcerated individuals need employment once released in order to provide for themselves, their families, and the economy but are finding it difficult to do so.  At RIFT SUCCESS we provide work and career opportunities for those that wish to return to the workforce thus enhancing their quality of life and lowering their risk of returning to crime as a means of survival.

We are a unified coalition of professionals whose goal is to help all ex-incarcerated individuals find employment once released.  We use all our resources in order to be able to extend our reach on a global level and always welcome new and passionate professionals to our ranks.  Recidivism is an epidemic that not only affects peoples lives, but it affects the economy via unemployment.  We are not here to preach about what is or is not wrong with our Legal System, we are here to provide a solution to aid our Legal System.  Just or Unjust, the system will not change if we dont provide a method of change.  Our 2nd Chance Division does just that..we provide a method of change.

We have taken our program into a new dimension and are proactive in our approach to diminishing recidivism.  How?  We are actively involving ourselves by entering the confines of the prison system armed with positive speakers, job coaches, consultants, activists, writers, and True SUCCESS stories in order to provide the change necessary in their lives from within.  All current incarcerated individuals are provided with a certificate of completion of the program they were involved in, while this may be a small achievement to some, it is a life altering achievement for others.  Once released, they are all welcomed with open arms and provided with aid in workforce reentry.
